Associated General Contractors' Build Rhode Island Awards
Newport Hospital also was the focus of The Rhode Island Associated General Contractors Build Rhode Island Awards. The award, presented to Gilbane Building Company for the project team, was given for the 110,000-square-foot East Wing addition, a three-story ambulatory care addition housing new emergency, surgical, diagnostic imaging, and special diagnostic services designed by Taylor & Partners. "The awards recognize the performance excellence these companies exhibited in meeting a design and construction challenge within a specified time and budget," said Eric F. Anderson, executive director of the RIAGC. "The criteria for the awards are based on seven characteristics such as teamwork, innovation in construction techniques, sensitivity to the environment and the attention to detail required within the scope of each project."
